Broadgate Search have partnered with a growing software company in their search for a Head of Tax & VAT Compliance. This opportunity can be based out of Hamburg, Germany or remotely in Europe. The company focuses on accounting and VAT solutions for e-commerce businesses in Europe.
 
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Tax & VAT Compliance to build, guide, and mentor a high-performing compliance team. This operationally driven role will involve collaboration across multiple functions and fostering a culture aligned with our core values: excellence, passion, boldness, and change.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Build and lead a compliance solutions team, ensuring collaboration and high performance in a matrix setup.
• Strategic Development: Develop and execute the compliance strategy while contributing to the broader Go-To-Market strategy, balancing strategic oversight with operational delivery.
• Risk Management: Lead compliance risk assessments and implement effective risk mitigation strategies, providing proactive guidance on compliance-related issues.
• Regulatory Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on local and international regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of compliance standards and advising the company on legislative changes.
• Partner Engagement: Be the face of compliance solutions for partners across the EU, particularly tax advisors, managing compliance risks effectively.
• Training Development: Oversee the development and delivery of compliance training programs to educate employees on regulatory standards and company policies.

 
Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, law, finance, or equivalent professional training.
• Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a senior role with people responsibilities, preferably within TaxTech, FinTech, B2B, VAT, and European taxes. Strong understanding of the EU regulatory and compliance landscape.
• Team Management: Strong team direction capabilities with a focus on inspiring teams and delivering top performance.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex compliance matters in a clear and concise manner, both in German and English.
